The Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering is Professor María Molinos, of the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering.
The Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering is María Molinos, Associate Professor of the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering and Associate Researcher at the Center for Sustainable Urban Development (CEDEUS), as well as a researcher at the Research Center for Integrated Disaster Risk Management (CIGIDEN).
A Spanish national, she came to Chile and the Catholic University in 2015 to work as an academic at the School of Engineering and at the Institute for Urban Studies. In June 2018, she was appointed Director of Research and Innovation of the School of Engineering at the beginning of the third period as dean of Professor Juan Carlos de la Llera.
She has a degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Valencia and a PhD degree. in Local Development and Territory from the University of Valencia and the Jaume I University of Castellón.
In 2017, the Chilean Academy of Sciences awarded her the “Adelina Gutiérrez” Award of Excellence, which distinguishes the scientific trajectory of young researchers over 40 years of age, nationals or foreigners residing in Chile and aims to contribute to the promotion of the science in the country.
As a researcher, she is a specialist in analysis of the sustainability of the urban water cycle; in evaluating the economic viability of implementing new processes related to the activities of the urban water cycle, effects of regulation on the efficiency and sustainability of sanitation companies, among other areas. He has published more than 85 articles in ISI magazines related to the management and eco-efficiency of sanitation companies and water treatment facilities.
