Majors and minors

Engineering; Design and Innovation; Autonomous Systems and Robots; Biomedical Engineering; Biological Engineering; Geosciences; Engineering Mathematics; and Engineering and Architecture – these are just some of the subjects you can explore with UC Engineering (leading to a Bachelor of Science in Engineering).

The School of Engineering offers 13 disciplinary majors and 9 interdisciplinary majors, leading to the Bachelor of Science in Engineering. They include Geosciences, Mathematical Engineering, Physics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and Engineering and Architecture.

Upon completing 4 years with a major and minor and additional requirements, the students  will obtain the Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a very unique profile that will depend on the combination of major/minor that each has chosen.

What are majors and minors?

MAJOR: A concentration of courses equivalent to 60 SCT Chile, that conform to a DISCIPLINARY or INTERDISCIPLINARY academic plan.

MINOR: A concentration of courses equivalent to 30 SCT Chile, that conform to coherent academic plan in a determined discipline and add either BREADTH or DEPTH to the student’s chosen major.

International accreditation

The School of Engineering requested the international review of some of its programs leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Engineering for the first time in January 2020.

The following programs will be reviewed by ABET during the 2020-2021 process

The educational objectives and the numbers of current students and graduates of these programs (according to ABET requirements), are available in the links associated with the names of each program.
