The same emphasis is given to promoting the applied sciences, technology, research, and student-driven innovations. Students must complete 60 SCT Chile* to fulfill the degree requirements, with courses coherently grouped according to the graduate profile. The UC School of Engineering currently offers 13 disciplinary and 9 interdisciplinary majors.<\/li>\n<li>Students must also complete a minor (30 SCT Chile), the courses of which are coherently grouped according to the graduate profile. Students have the option to minor in an area other than their major or to further specialize within their major.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, students may enroll in an exploration course, which guides them on the distinct major programs. After completing the four-year major and minor courses, in addition to other requirements, students will be granted a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. The profile of each graduate will be nearly unique and will depend on the chosen major\/minor combination.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10px;\">* The Transferable Credit System, denominated SCT Chile (Spanish acronym), seeks to measure, streamline, and distribute the academic load of students among the diverse curricular requirements of academic plans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Bachelor of Science in Engineering stage can be summarized as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-69461\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ing.uc.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Diagrama-programa-apoyo-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1726\" height=\"688\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ing.uc.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Diagrama-programa-apoyo-1.jpg 1726w, https:\/\/www.ing.uc.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Diagrama-programa-apoyo-1-600x239.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.ing.uc.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Diagrama-programa-apoyo-1-300x120.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ing.uc.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Diagrama-programa-apoyo-1-768x306.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ing.uc.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Diagrama-programa-apoyo-1-1024x408.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ing.uc.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Diagrama-programa-apoyo-1-487x194.jpg 487w, https:\/\/www.ing.uc.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Diagrama-programa-apoyo-1-1200x478.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1726px) 100vw, 1726px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>What are majors and minors?<\/h3>\n<p>MAJOR: A concentration of courses equivalent to 60 SCT Chile, conformed by a coherent DISCIPLINARY or INTERDISCIPLINARY academic plan.<\/p>\n<p>MINOR: A concentration of courses equivalent to 30 SCT Chile, conformed by a coherent academic plan in a determined discipline and that can either add BREADTH or DEPTH to the student\u2019s chosen major.<\/p>\n<p>The 2013 Curriculum offers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>13 Disciplinary Majors<\/li>\n<li>9 Interdisciplinary Majors<\/li>\n<li>20 Depth Minors<\/li>\n<li>19 Breadth Minors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Second stage: Options after receiving your Bachelor<\/h3>\n<p>After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, students can choose to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Obtain professional title as a UC Engineer*.<\/li>\n<li>Obtain another UC professional title. Programs currently exist for receiving certification as a UC Medical Surgeon, Architect, or Designer.**<\/li>\n<li>Continue work towards a graduate degree (Master and Doctorate). This can be with the UC*** or another institution. Students must independently undergo graduate admissions.<\/li>\n<li>Early work insertion or entrepreneurship.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10px;\">* Separate applications are not needed for students choosing to obtain certification as a UC Civil Engineer.
