The faculty position in Construction Technologies and Systems will hold a shared appointment with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/construccioncivil.uc.cl\/\">School of Civil Construction<\/a>\u00a0at this university.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Duties<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Each successful applicant\u2019s duties will include teaching (at undergraduate and graduate levels), conducting research, providing external services and carrying out administrative tasks. Emphasis will be given to the contribution and interest in research that candidates can offer in one of the following fields:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u00a0 \u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Road infrastructure:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Asphalt technology<\/li>\n<li>Structural design and analysis of pavements<\/li>\n<li>Safety, resilience and sustainability of roads and infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>Geometric Design of Roads and Highways<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a02. \u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Sustainable construction:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sustanaible management and evaluation of projects.<\/li>\n<li>Incorporation of social, technical, environmental and economic impacts on the decisions to build construction projects.<\/li>\n<li>Building materials with low environmental impact.<\/li>\n<li>Life-cycle assessment of projects.<\/li>\n<li>Productivity and quality of construction processes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Construction management:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Construction management and innovation<\/li>\n<li>Risk and uncertainty<\/li>\n<li>Information technologies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Construction technologies and systems:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Design, modelling and simulation of construction systems<\/li>\n<li>Industrialized construction methods<\/li>\n<li>Prefabrication, preassembly, modularization, recycling, and construction automation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (or be currently pursuing studies towards the degree) in related areas. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the School of Engineering, it is important that the applicant is willing to work collaboratively; some international experience is also desirable. Candidates do not need to know Spanish at the time of applying, but should be prepared to learn the language well enough to begin teaching in Spanish in the short term.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must demonstrate potential for excellence and a strong vocation for all aspects of academic life, be highly motivated to continuously improve their teaching skills, be interested in getting involved with our graduate programs (specially the doctoral program) and be able to develop and maintain an active research agenda (publications, research grants, etc.).
