The\u00a0School of Engineering<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile<\/a>\u00a0invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the area of\u00a0Embedded Systems<\/strong>\u00a0at the Department of Electrical Engineering.<\/b><\/p>\n

Duties<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The successful applicant\u2019s duties will include primarily teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducting research, and secondarily providing external services and participating in university administrative tasks. It is expected that the new position in Embedded Systems has as its main research focus on Digital Systems and programmable electronic devices and cyber-physical systems, including their design, implementation and applications.<\/b><\/p>\n

Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or be currently pursuing studies towards the degree in Embedded Systems or related areas. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the School of Engineering, it is important that the applicant is willing to work collaboratively in areas such as wireless sensor networks, medical devices, biomedical engineering, integrated circuits, energy systems and smart grids, robotics and real-time automation and natural disaster monitoring, among others. Some international experience is also desirable.<\/p>\n

Candidates do not need to know Spanish at the time of applying, but should be prepared to learn the language well enough to begin teaching in Spanish in the short term.<\/p>\n

Applicants must demonstrate potential for excellence and a strong commitment for all aspects of academic life. They must be highly motivated to continuously improve their teaching skills, have a genuine interest in getting involved with our graduate programs (specially the doctoral program) and be able to develop and maintain an active research agenda leading to high quality publications, securing research grants, etc. The successful candidate will also be expected to create new undergraduate and graduate courses and teach traditional courses in related areas.<\/p>\n

  1. Research statement (in Spanish or English) indicating immediate and long-term goals for your research plan. Detail potential collaboration networks with other researchers and plans for interactions with scientists in Chile and other countries.<\/li>\n
  2. Teaching statement of purpose (in Spanish or English) indicating why you should be considered for the position and your plans for teaching. Be as specific as possible, e.g. giving examples of how you aim to transfer your knowledge to undergraduate and graduate students.<\/li>\n
  3. An up-to-date curriculum vitae (in Spanish or English,\u00a0note B<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  4. Copies of the candidate\u2019s five most recent ISI publications, if available. Otherwise, include any articles considered relevant in the context of the application (see\u00a0note C<\/a>\u00a0).<\/li>\n
  5. In addition, candidates should arrange for three letters of recommendation to be e-mailed directly by the signatories to\u00a0vacantes-academicas@ing.puc.cl<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n\n\n

    Once the complete set of application materials has been received, the applicant will be contacted within two months and informed whether or not his\/her application has been accepted for further consideration. If this initial screening is successful, the candidate will be asked to give a lecture on his\/her current research topics and attend interviews with faculty members of the Department of Electrical Engineering, the dean of the School of Engineering and the Selection Committee.<\/p>\n
