Actividad online, v\u00eda Zoom.<\/h4>\n<p><\/p>\n<p align = \"justify\">Comienza el ciclo de Seminarios de este semestre el pr\u00f3ximo martes a las 13:00 hrs, con la presentaci\u00f3n de nuestro estudiante William Araujo y el seminario &#8220;Evaluaci\u00f3n del desplazamiento lateral inducido por licuaci\u00f3n para sismos de subducci\u00f3n de gran magnitud&#8221;, tema central de su investigaci\u00f3n de tesis.<\/p>\n<h4>Abstract<\/h4>\n<p align = \"justify\">Dentro de las fallas inducidas por la licuaci\u00f3n s\u00edsmica de suelos, los da\u00f1os m\u00e1s peligrosos son los generados por el desplazamiento lateral del suelo. Diversos modelos emp\u00edricos y num\u00e9ricos han sido propuestos para la predicci\u00f3n del desplazamiento lateral. No obstante, en la mayor\u00eda de los casos, estos modelos fueron desarrollados para sismos de magnitudes menores a 7.5 Mw con mecanismo focal cortical. Recientemente, De la Maza et al., (2017) sugirieron calibrar esas ecuaciones y modelos para sismos de gran magnitud con la finalidad de obtener una mejor predicci\u00f3n en el caso de sismos de subducci\u00f3n en d\u00f3nde la distancia R entre el sitio en cuesti\u00f3n y la proyecci\u00f3n de la fuente s\u00edsmica se vuelve demasiado peque\u00f1a, o directamente nula, para aplicarla en los modelos existentes. Una mejor comprensi\u00f3n del fen\u00f3meno evitar\u00eda dar recomendaciones costosas de medidas de prevenci\u00f3n del mismo.\n <\/p>\n<h4>Nuestro Expositor<\/h4>\n<p align = \"justify\">William Araujo es Ingeniero Civil de la Universidad de Piura, Per\u00fa, y actualmente es candidato a Doctor en Ciencias de la Ingenier\u00eda de nuestra Universidad.
