De ah\u00ed que el\u00a0<strong>metal<\/strong>\u00a0es una de las\u00a0<strong>principales aristas<\/strong>\u00a0de la\u00a0<strong>econom\u00eda nacional<\/strong>. Las\u00a0<strong>proyecciones<\/strong>\u00a0indican que nuestro pa\u00eds alcanzar\u00e1 en\u00a0<strong>2034<\/strong>\u00a0la\u00a0<strong>mayor participaci\u00f3n<\/strong>\u00a0de mercado en la\u00a0<strong>producci\u00f3n mundial<\/strong>\u00a0de cobre, transitando de un 23,6% en 2024 a un\u00a0<strong>27,3%<\/strong>\u00a0a 2034, seg\u00fan el informe publicado por la\u00a0<strong>Comisi\u00f3n Chilena del Cobre (Cochilco)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>De acuerdo con J\u00e9lvez, son\u00a0<strong>dos<\/strong>\u00a0los\u00a0<strong>factores<\/strong>\u00a0que explican la\u00a0<strong>importancia de Chile<\/strong>\u00a0en el\u00a0<strong>mercado internacional<\/strong>\u00a0del cobre: el primero es que nuestro territorio posee el\u00a0<strong>20%<\/strong>\u00a0de los\u00a0<strong>yacimientos cupr\u00edferos<\/strong>\u00a0a nivel mundial y, en segundo lugar, somos el\u00a0<strong>principal productor<\/strong>\u00a0de este mineral. Pero, \u00bfqu\u00e9\u00a0<strong>beneficios<\/strong>\u00a0entrega el cobre sobre otros metales?<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan el\u00a0<strong>acad\u00e9mico<\/strong>, el elemento tiene la\u00a0<strong>mejor conductividad<\/strong>\u00a0el\u00e9ctrica de todos los metales, lo que\u00a0<strong>favorece su uso<\/strong>\u00a0en\u00a0<strong>cables<\/strong>\u00a0y\u00a0<strong>l\u00edneas de transmisi\u00f3n<\/strong>. Asimismo, posee\u00a0<strong>propiedades antimicrobianas<\/strong>\u00a0\u00fanicas, pues los virus y bacterias que causan infecciones no se pueden reproducir sobre superficies con part\u00edculas de cobre. Tambi\u00e9n, puede ser utilizado en una amplia gama de\u00a0<strong>tecnolog\u00edas de descarbonizaci\u00f3n<\/strong>\u00a0y tiene distintos\u00a0<strong>usos m\u00e9dicos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Nuevos desaf\u00edos para el cobre<\/h2>\n<p>Pese a lo anterior, J\u00e9lvez hizo hincapi\u00e9 en los\u00a0<strong>desaf\u00edos<\/strong>\u00a0que enfrenta el\u00a0<strong>mineral<\/strong>. El m\u00e1s importante de ellos es el\u00a0<strong>agotamiento<\/strong>\u00a0que est\u00e1n sufriendo actualmente los\u00a0<strong>yacimientos<\/strong>, lo que dificulta\u00a0<strong>satisfacer<\/strong>\u00a0la\u00a0<strong>demanda<\/strong>\u00a0a la vez que hay una\u00a0<strong>menor productividad<\/strong>. De hecho, el experto manifest\u00f3 su\u00a0<strong>preocupaci\u00f3n<\/strong>\u00a0en tal materia indicando que \u201crequerimos m\u00e1s y estamos bajando la producci\u00f3n, es una\u00a0<strong>contradicci\u00f3n<\/strong>\u00a0que tenemos que atender\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Otro\u00a0<strong>desaf\u00edo<\/strong>\u00a0es el que tiene la industria cupr\u00edfera de generar\u00a0<strong>mejores tecnolog\u00edas<\/strong>\u00a0para la\u00a0<strong>producci\u00f3n<\/strong>\u00a0del elemento, consiguiendo obtener a un\u00a0<strong>menor costo<\/strong>\u00a0y de manera\u00a0<strong>m\u00e1s eficiente<\/strong>\u00a0la unidad final de cobre.
