Patricio Domínguez comparte sus perspectivas sobre migración y economía en 13C Radio

La migración es un fenómeno que ha cobrado gran relevancia en la agenda pública y económica de Chile. Para profundizar en este tema, el programa #CuatroCabezas de 13C Radio invitó al Profesor Patricio Domínguez, destacado miembro del Departamento de Ingeniería Industrial y de Sistemas (DIIS) y Presidente Ejecutivo de Espacio Público a compartir su visión sobre los efectos económicos de la migración en el país. Durante la entrevista, el Profesor Domínguez abordó diversos aspectos de la migración, desde su impacto en el mercado laboral hasta las implicaciones fiscales y sociales. Con una perspectiva basada en datos y estudios recientes, el profesor destacó que la migración puede tener efectos positivos en la economía, tales como la inyección de talento y diversidad en la fuerza laboral, y el potencial para impulsar la innovación y el crecimiento económico. Sin embargo, también señaló los desafíos que conlleva, incluyendo la necesidad de políticas públicas que aseguren una integración efectiva y equitativa de los migrantes en la sociedad chilena. La entrevista puso de manifiesto la importancia de abordar la migración no sólo como un desafío, sino también como una oportunidad para el desarrollo económico del país. Al respecto, el académico del DIIS comentó sobre la vinculación de la migración con la delincuencia. “Cuando no hay grandes barreras, no hay un aumento de la tasa de criminalidad.(…) obviamente uno puede buscar casos específicos donde ocurre de un lado a otro, pero cuando ocurre, muchas veces está asociado a un problema de integración que por ejemplo, con políticas públicas se podría mejorar”, aseveró Patricio Domínguez. FACULTY POSITION IN MARKETING ANALYTICS

The School of Engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, one of the leading engineering academic institutions in Latin America, invites outstanding candidates for a full-time faculty position in the area of Marketing Analytics at the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Although this call is initially intended for candidates at the Assistant Professor level, exceptional applications at the Associate Professor level are also welcome.  Duties: High quality teaching (at engineering undergraduate and graduate levels) and conducting independent research. Additional duties include knowledge transfer, outreach, student counseling and university administrative tasks. This position entails conducting Analytical Marketing research from either an organizational or consumer-focused perspective. Organizational research could involve applying quantitative models for improving customer experience or satisfaction, along with studying the evolution of traditional Marketing mix elements. Alternatively, consumer-focused research may explore customer behavior considering omnichannel business models and digital communication usage and could include the development of segmentation and targeting strategies. The candidate should also design or apply predictive or prescriptive models that enhance the theoretical and practical understanding of the marketing discipline.  Requirements: Applicants should hold a Ph.D., or be near completion of their doctorate, in analytical marketing or a closely related field and have demonstrated research and teaching potential in the area. We are interested in individuals with research and teaching pursuits at the interaction among analytical marketing, management science, decision science and data science. Due to the nature of our School, the applicant will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other Departments in the School of Engineering in areas such as: predictive/prescriptive analytics applied to marketing decisions, content recommendation, sentiment analysis, dynamic pricing, programmatic advertising, chatbots and virtual assistants applied to marketing, among others. Previous postdoctoral or international academic experience should be stated in the application.  Candidates do not need to be fluent in Spanish at the time of application but should be prepared to learn the language well enough to teach in Spanish in the short term (two years maximum). Fluency in English is a requirement.  Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to all aspects of academic life and public good of the institution.
