Biografía

Alan Poulos es profesor en el Departamento de Ingeniería Estructural y Geotécnica. Su investigación se centra en la ingeniería sísmica, con especial énfasis en la caracterización y simulación de los movimientos sísmicos del suelo y en la evaluación del riesgo sísmico para infraestructura distribuida espacialmente.

Antes de incorporarse a la UC, Alan fue un Mendenhall Fellow en el U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Es doctor (PhD) en Ingeniería Estructural por la Universidad de Stanford, y obtuvo los títulos de Ingeniero Civil y Magíster (MSc) en Ingeniería Estructural por la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Anteriormente trabajó en el Centro de Investigación para la Gestión Integrada del Riesgo de Desastres (CIGIDEN) y cuenta con experiencia en la industria y en consultoría en evaluación de amenaza y riesgo sísmico.

Alan Poulos is a professor in the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering. His research focuses on earthquake engineering, with a particular emphasis on the characterization and simulation of earthquake ground motions and the assessment of seismic risk for spatially distributed infrastructure.

Prior to joining UC, Alan was a Mendenhall Fellow at the Earthquake Science Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). He holds a PhD in Structural Engineering from Stanford University and also earned an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and an MSc in Structural Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He previously worked at the Research Center for Integrated Disaster Risk Management (CIGIDEN) and has industry and consulting experience in seismic hazard and risk assessment.
