A Hands-On Workshop on Computing Tools for Engineering Modeling and Problem Solving

Abstract

Our goal has been to re-enchant engineering students in the use of computing tools, by means of a hands-on workshop with an HP mobile technology lab (HPMS-Lab) and software applications such as MS Excel/Visual Basic, MS Access, Matlab, MS Project, MS Visio and Web 2.0 environments . It consists of short interactive lectures, hands-on tutorials, lab group-work and project group homeworks. It is a project-oriented workshop for modeling and solving complex engineering problems in different disciplines such as optimization, finance, electrical, structural and transportation engineering, thermodynamics, project management and web services).
