Abstract
This study evaluates two recent analytical models (the Rotational Springs model and the Uni-axial Springs model) to simulate the cyclic response of Exposed Base Plates with Extended Anchor Bolts (EBP-EAB), a type of column base connection commonly used in industrial steel structures in South America. In EBP-EABs inelastic deformations develop at the anchor bolts rather than at the base of the columns. Both models were implemented in Open-Sees. The seismic response (nonlinear time history analysis) of a 2-story building model equipped with EBP-EABs was evaluated. For comparison purposes, the 2-story building was also analysed considering fixed base conditions
