Majors in Geotechnical Engineering will develop the ability to solve problems related to the behavior of soils and rocks and to the interaction of these materials with different kinds of infrastructure. Furthermore, students can participate in mitigating and finding solutions to phenomena such as landslides, the excessive settlement of structures, and damage caused by earthquakes, through the design, construction, and operation of Civil Engineering projects.
This course will allow students to obtain a general vision of the Major in Geotechnical Engineering and the areas of knowledge that are studied.
The graduates of Bachelor of Science in Engineering with Major in Geotechnical Engineering will be able to apply their degrees in a number of areas in Civil Engineering. The primary fields of employment are consultancies in geotechnical engineering, multidisciplinary consultancies in civil engineering, construction companies, mining companies, and public entities.
“The Major in Geotechnical Engineering will provide you with the tools you need to apply the fundamentals of soil and rock mechanics to the analysis and design of different civil engineering works, as well as to integrate your knowledge with the work of other disciplines,” Christian Ledezma Araya.
