Registrations are now open for the GEDC 2019 Conference calling on engineering school leaders from around the world to come to Chile’s capital, Santiago, from the 20th to 23rd of October.

The conference, which will be held for the first time in a Latin American country, will focus on the theme “Engineering minds, hearts and hands: impact with a purpose”. The event will place special emphasis on the role that engineering plays in interdisciplinary challenges faced by sustainability, a critical issue in Latin America and across the world, as well as resilience to natural disasters, health, energy, water and food.

“During the event we will discuss how to strengthen our institutions, motivated by our purpose to make a positive contribution towards the equitable, inclusive and sustainable development of our countries and societies” says Juan Carlos de la Llera, Dean of the Engineering Faculty of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and organizer of this version of the meeting.

The academic authority and GEDC member added that engineering today plays an increasingly significant and important role in the way that society and people interact with technology.

The UC Engineering School will soon announce the conference program.
